This is India! 93

Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Werkenntwen.

What I was up to other than here:

  • Not much to share this week except what I’ve been reading. I finished
A Tiny Bit Marvelous which was an easy fast read. Now, I’m reading
My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape  which is written by Jenna Miscagive, the niece of the leader of Scientology… it’s very interesting!

Now your story (video),

One of my favorite things in Goa used to be the Wednesday flea market but I’ve come to to point where I kind of avoid it. It’s really hot and crowded and everyone is calling you over to buy something. I prefer the Saturday night market because it’s cooler in the evening and there are more shops.

When friends come to visit I always take them to the Wednesday market though because you get better deals there. I sent Amanda off shopping while I had a juice and the guys had a beer at a bar on the edge of the market.

It was the first time I’ve seen these kids do tightrope tricks. They are maybe locals, or maybe gypsies (or just form another state) but they were doing it for the money and would send one of the kids around after to collect. They were really talented and I found it ironic how this is kind of a hipsters past time now were you see people tying lines up between trees.

I hope the kids found it fun and not just work because they were so young. We of course gave them some money. (I don’t give to kids begging, unless it’s food).
