Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Werkenntwen.
What I was up to other than here:
- I started a kickboxing class in Goa this week & Ben and I have been cooking every night making stuff from Pinterest or anything Jamie Oliver (my hero, how is adorable, AND opening a restaurant here in India, yeaaaahhh!)
- On the blog… I wrote an article for Bindi & Jeans 10 must have for your travel beauty bag and was featured on Balanced Babe in this article (which I did not write the title for).
Now your story,
Goa’s monsoon is celebrated big time when it comes… even though we are all bitch about it maybe even a week into it.
April gets hot, and May gets hotter. By the end of May it’s so hot and humid I don’t even want to leave the house. Even the locals will say it’s out of control! This year in India was especially bad with many deaths in North India from the heat.
When the first rain came in my Facebook was flooded with photos of the clouds rolling in. We stood outside with our neighbors and security guards of the complex and felt the first big drops! Then we ran inside because it was POURING!
My friend Anoushka put these up from coco beach:
This is what the first rain looked like from our house. It poured and within 20 minutes the power was out and stayed out most of the night.
Monsoon means power outages and internet outages on the regular! But India needs monsoon season SO much so we really shouldn’t complain about it. It’s over by October each year and during the monsoon season there are some days of sunshine!
I missed a lot being in the US all of July, so the rain isn’t bothering me. Let’s see how I feel by end of September!
This is India!
