Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Werkenntwen.
What I was up to other than here:
- I’ve just gotten back from Hawaii and we are readjusting to the heat. Ben has been sick, and our rent is going up so we are looking for another home sadly but hoping somehow to stay where we are. Also, our luggage was lost & we both have a lot of work to do! So nothing too exciting to share here. FYI remember that rant I did about American when my parents visited? UNITED is worse. LOL can’t even begin to explain because it might give me anxiety just thinking about it! Now we have $250 credit each for United in compensation, but I don’t even want to fly them again. When is someone going to invent teleporting?
Now your story,
Since I shared last week about one activity we do here in India to feel like kids (ice skating), I thought I’d tell about go karting in Goa. We love it! It’s set up next to the Saturday night market in Arpora and is open only from 4 pm – 10 pm. It’s 250 rs. for 10 laps.
and you SHOULD NOT FORCE YOUR CHILD TO GO KART! lol, do they really have to say that?
It’s crazy because this is not how I remember go karting back in the U.S. as a kid; they go SO fast here! We guess about 20 mph. I guess that doesn’t sound that fast but when you’re about 4 inches from the ground it sure does feel fast.
Ben and his bro wrecked into each other and Ben came through the door back home (I didn’t go that time) with blood all over his leg like “omg, I’m so hurt…” and I’m worried! Then, Josh starts telling the story about how bad it was, etc, etc, and I hear something that makes no sense… I said, “wait Josh, did you just say Ben had them turn the speed up and he went 20 more laps AFTER it happened? Yes. So then I didn’t feel so bad and dote on him lol. They are dangerous though with no shoes/flipflops like Ben sometimes does.
There are signs about being responsible and not dying, and that girls in sarees can’t go. Ben and I go really fast & hard-core, pedal to the floor the whole time and race. Literally, no one can beat Ben (except with his bro T-bones him) and I come in right behind him.
I think most Indians have scooters rather than cars, or maybe have drivers… not sure, but man most we watch are terrible and go really slow. Maybe we just have not seen the cream of the crop. Either way, we love it.
