Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Werkenntwen.
What I was up to other than here:
- woop woop, I’m in Maui! How amazing is it that I found a return trip ticket Goa to Maui and back (through LA) for only 1300 USD. Ben had to go for work, so I’m tagging along and renting a car to go wander around. It’s a pretty expensive place… but HAWAII, so who cares! haha kidding sort of. I’ll love your tips for Maui and Honolulu… I’m here for two weeks.
Now your story,
The people who makes road signs in India have the best job in the world. I have seen some really interesting ones, but don’t always think to write them down.
On a recent road trip that was 4 hours long on the dangerous Goa-Mumbai road, I wrote down some. The road has some areas that are very windy, scary, and I have seen some horrible crashes, one which was fatal. You often see trucks over on their side. We always drive slow, and I can see why there are so many safety signs. I couldn’t take photos, as the road is too dangerous to stop. You don’t usually see sings like this, although in Goa I wish wearing a helmet was more enforced. I think it’s great that in Maharashtra they take the effort to make catchy phrases and make signs to encourage helmets and slow driving.
Highway Signs in India
Control you nerves on curves.
Don’t go to hell, mate. Wear a helmet.
Better to be Mr. Late than a late Mr.
Safety on the road is safe tea at home
Line between life and death is very thin.
This is a highway not a die-way.
